The increasing number of smartphones and tablets in the workplace is having a knock-on effect on the enterprises tasked with controlling both the devices and the apps on them. ABI Research now forecasts that the number of large enterprises adopting enterprise app stores will grow three-fold by 2018.
In a new report, the research firm predicts that large enterprise app store adoption will grow 30.4% year-on-year and claims that the manufacturing and trade industries are at the cutting-edge of this new trend.
When it comes to adoption by region, North American and Western European enterprise app store adoption is similar, at 20.7% and 21.5% respectively, but it is the Asia-Pacific that is ahead of the curve with a YoY adoption growth of 59%.
“Mobile Application Management is growing in popularity among enterprises looking to deploy flexible mobile solutions to support bring-your-own-device (BYOD) initiatives,” said senior analyst, Jason McNicol, in a statement.
“The problem is finding a scalable solution to deploy enterprise apps without placing additional burdens on IT departments. Enterprise app stores allow enterprises to expand their mobile application portfolio yet control distribution based on role and mobile policy.”
