HP may have unceremoniously killed its TouchPad tablet this summer, but according to one exec, the company is readying another slate. This time it's Windows 8.
Cloud Pro is reporting that HP’s managing director in Europe, the Middle East and Africa has said there will be more tablet devices coming from the company, with the first just a few months away.
Yves De Talhouet revealed to Cloud Pro that a tablet running Windows 8 would be announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January.
The TouchPad was one of the quickest product cancellations in recent memory. De Talhouet told Cloud Pro that mistakes were made with the short-lived device.
“We thought we had a good asset with WebOS and thought we could combine WebOS with a good hardware, [but] we retreated from that because of the economic conditions to enter that market,” he told the site.
De Talhouet said HP’s tablet strategy was “being worked on and would be announced briefly,” but provided no other details.
