December 1 2011

Interested in the month's tablet-oriented conferences, events, releases, shows, and symposiums? Look no further.

For many of us, December means a brief change of focus from business as usual to thoughts of home, hearth—and a mad dash to cross off items on your work to-do list before the holiday.

With this in mind, it’s no wonder that there aren’t a whole lot of tablet-centric events on the blotter just now. That said, the few events that are coming up over the next few weeks offer a little something for just about everyone and are not to be missed.

MoDevEAST Conference

MoDevEAST is a two day conference devoted to mobile application development that offers attendees the opportunity to hone their coding skills and mobile business strategies for Android, iOS and Windows 7 deployments.

Date: 2-3 December 2011
Location: Gannett, Virginia. U.S.A.

Mobile Business Summit

Featuring speakers from the BBC, Future Media, Google, eBay. Mediacom and other industry notables, The Guardian’s Mobile Business Summit 2011 is not to be missed. Perfect for individuals responsible for focusing their brand’s avenues of user engagement, those looking to partner with content and technology providers or anyone wishing to gain a better understanding of the commercial opportunities that are emerging in the mobile marketplace.

Date: 6 December 2011
Location: London, United Kingdom

Publishing App Expo

If you’re interested in gleaning a better understanding of multi-platform print publishing, then the Publishing App Expo is worth two days of your precious time.

Day one of the Expo focuses on exploring the process of developing a mobile Magazine or news application for your organization, as well as what best practices should be implemented to bring that application to functional, fiscally productive life. On day two, attendees can expect to discuss Book apps, with pricing, how to leverage social media, monetization and discoverability all on the agenda.

Date: 7-8 December 2011
Location: New York City, New York. U.S.A.

GigaOM: Net:Work

This is GigaOM’s second staging of this conference, which is aimed at exploring and highlighting new opportunities, ideas, and ventures for broadband and mobile broadband.

Topics will include how to use social tools effectively in enterprise environments, effective tactics for staging remote and online work environments, and an interesting-sounding session on how the tablet is changing corporate culture. The event’s speakers include Box’ Aaron Levie Klout’s Matt Thompson, and QuickOffice’s Alan Masarek.

Date: 8 December 2011
Location: San Francisco, CA, USA

What about D: Dive Into Mobile?

There is no set date for the Wall Street Journal’s D: Dive Into Mobile conference, which makes us think it probably won’t happen this year. That’s a surprise, given that last year’s conference, which provided a surprisingly frank venue for discussions on emerging technologies, hot trends and the future of the tablet market.

We’re hoping to hear about the next one being at least announced this month. If not, there’s always January’s Dive Into Media.

Are you hosting an event that we should know about? Send your information to editor@tabtimes.com so that it can be included on our calendar.
