Unconfirmed reports suggest that Samsung could debut an 11.6-inch 2560 x 1600 resolution tablet at the Mobile World Congress in February, news that is likely to be of some annoyance to Apple.
Citing a ‘trusted source’, BGR reports that the tablet will run Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0), and will feature the dual-core Exynos 5250 CPU, which has been clocked at 2GHz. The source also adds that Android Beam may be supported for syncing media files with a Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone.
If this rumour is true, it would be a mighty blow for Apple, which is widely-reported to be trying (and failing) to use a 2560 x 1560 resolution display for its iPad 3, which is rumoured to be launching in March of next year.
The news would be even harder to take for the Curpentino-based firm, given its bitter legal action with Samsung, as well as the fact that the Korean group has previously been an iPad display partner.
In related news, Apple has lost its battle to prevent the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet from being sold in Australia.
