UK retailer Dixons Retail says that pre-orders for Asus’ latest tablet have been seven times better than expected, making the tablet the most pre-ordered Honeycomb tablet to date.
The retailer chose not to divulge specific figures but said that pre-orders are ‘already in their thousands’, a figure which may have been influenced by the firm's offer of £25 (approximately $40) off the tablet and its docking station.
“We are expecting the Transformer Prime to be in high demand when it arrives in January so anyone hoping to purchase one is strongly advised to pre-order now, in order to avoid missing out,” said Mark Slater, category director at Dixons Retail.
Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is available on pre-order for £499 (approximately $780) from Currys and PC World (Dixon-owned stores) and will be released in the UK on 12th January. The tablet will run Android Honeycomb (3.2) on launch, but will support an upgrade to Android Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) in the future.
