Amid all the discounted low-end Android tablets, Amazon, Apple and Microsoft have also confirmed plans to offer tablet deals over the Black Friday and Cyber Monday holiday period.
Of all three companies, Amazon has perhaps been the most aggressive with Black Friday, promising week-long deals on over 1,000 products from Windows 8 and Google Chromebooks to 3D TVs and the company’s own Kindle Fire tablets.
No details are known at this stage on what that deal will entail, although a variety of U.S. retailers are preparing to offer gift cards of up to $30 when customers purchase one of the Kindle Fire tablets.
Microsoft has also published details of its Black Friday sale, and the software giant’s website suggests that hardware and software deals will go live from Microsoft.com at 12 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
The Redmond firm is planning to offer the Surface tablet at a discount a day later on Black Friday (lasting until Sunday), with this offer saving customers $50 on a second Touch or Type cover when they purchase a Surface RT tablet. Microsoft's Surface page on Facebook also indicates that the first 100 buyers of the Surface RT will get a free tablet sleeve.
Apple, as ever, has been somewhat quieter and more mystical on the Black Friday deals, but has announced that it will hold a one-day sales event on Friday.
The firm is currently promoting the event with a picture of an iPad in a Smart Cover alongside the following vague description. “The one-day Apple shopping event is Friday 23 November. Get ready to give.”
