Sprint eliminates unlimited data plans for tablet users

by George Jones

November 15 2011

No more unlimited tablet data for you! Sprint announces new data plan pricing, but leaves out the unlimited option.

Sprint's new pricing plans for tablet data users begin at 1GB (for $20/month), and include 3GB ($35), 6B ($50), and 12GB ($80/month) plans. Noticeably absent is the all-you-can-eat option that has made Sprint users so happy. According to Sprint, these new plans "replace all previously available mobile broadband plans."

According to Mobiledia, analysts have indicated that these cuts were instigated by a noticeable slowdown on Sprint's network brought on by the flood of new iPhone users. Sprint has denied these claims are true. The company has previously eliminated unlimited data plans for netbooks, notebooks, and mobile hotspots, leaving smartphones as the only remaining Sprint category with an unlimited option.
