Samsung Electronics announced a deal with Best Buy to add a kind of mini-store or store-within-the store featuring Samsung products at the big box retailer.
Apple has a similar arrangement with Best Buy. The “Samsung Experience Shop” will start rolling out to 1,400 Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile locations this month with about 900 installed by early May and the rest by early summer.
The stores will be staffed by dedicated Samsung Experience Consultants and Best Buy’s traditional blue shirt sales associates and also feature product demonstrations.
Samsung, Apple’s biggest competitor, is gunning for a greater share of the tablet market dominated by the iPad. On the smartphone side, Samsung’s Galaxy line leads the iPhone by a slim margin though there are also other strong competitors.
The news comes as Samsung is about to deliver its most advanced smartphone to date, the Galaxy S4, due out the end of this month. The S4 is almost a mini-tablet with its 5-inch Super HD AMOLED display
