TabTimes has announced the hiring of veteran tech journalist and editor Michael Singer to the newly created position of Business Editor.
In his new role, Singer will work with the TabTimes editorial staff on a variety of projects including outreach to our business audience to solicit new article ideas and features designed to meet their information needs.
Other responsibilities include assisting judges with the Tabby Awards competition and interviews with managers directly involved in tablet projects for such features as the weekly Tablet Leaders series.
Singer will also communicate regularly with the TabTimes Think Tank of advisors for new ideas and to better understand the content needs of those involved with tablet projects.
The news comes a week after the success of TabTimes’ second conference, TabletBiz, in New York last Tuesday. Singer will be directly involved in developing the agenda for future conferences including TabletStrategyWest set for San Francisco, February 20, 2013.
No stranger to tablets, Singer has covered the release of some of the early slate and convertible models like the Lenovo X61, Panasonic Toughbook, and Compaq's TC 10000. He’s also written extensively about issues related to the tablet ecosystem including BYOD and how companies can accommodate the rising demands for mobile access to business information while minimizing the security risks to proprietary data.
Before coming to TabTimes, Singer was at the Economist Intelligence Unit as part of its Thought Leadership Group. Prior to The Economist, he managed online news operations for UBM/TechWeb's InformationWeek and served as senior editor for the 2010 Folio award-winning Internet Evolution project. He's also been an editor and writer in San Francisco for ABC-7 News, KTVU FOX 2, and CNET News.com.
