Fox News reporters use giant touchscreen tablets in newsroom (video)

by David Needle

October 7 2013

Fox News has just unveiled an ambitious overhaul to its on-air newsroom that includes giant Windows-based touchscreens, a Twitter wall, and a "never before used in broadcast journalism" remote that lets the news host manipulate a 38-foot wall of video screens.

In a video, Fox News anchor Shepard Smith showed off the network's new setup which includes Windows 8 workstations with 55-inch touchscreen monitors.

So instead of the classic newsroom scene of reporters hunched over their desktop PCs, the video shows Fox journalists swiping through different sites and apps on the giant displays.  "We call these BATs," said Smith. "Big area touchscreens."

(Tablets in Media & Marketing will be one of the key sessions at the upcoming TabletBiz conference & expo, an exclusive one-day event in New York on November 13, 2013).
