Spotify's music service for tablets is now free — with ads

by TabTimes Staff

December 11 2013

Spotify has announced a free, ad-supported version of its popular music service for tablets.

During a media event today company officials confirmed the new version of Spotify will work with both Android and iOS tablets. You'll be able to access your playlists through your tablet devices and the company emphasized it's designed to be the same as the desktop experience.

Originally, Spotify charged $4.99 for an ad-free web experience and $9.99 to listen across multiple devices beyond the desktop. The top tier also came with offline access.

Now Spotify will allow freemium access on tablets and a very limited, free product on mobile. The new free products will still include ads, just like Spotify’s desktop product.
