Revel Systems, a provider of an iPad point-of-sale (POS) system, reveals that it is now introducing its own app marketplace for retailers to tap into.
The Revel Systems’ Marketplace will offer numerous plug-ins, including third party apps like Facebook and Twitter, while it will also integrate into local daily deal APIs from Groupon and Living Social among others.
All of this means that retailers will now have a greater array of features at their disposal, including the ability to directly send out special promotions via Facebook or Twitter, or redeem vouchers from Groupon.
It has certainly been a successful year for San Francisco-based Revel Systems, which has grown from a partnered two-person company to 30 employees and a client basis of 400 U.S. enterprise stores in just 14 months.
The company, which received $3.7 million in Series A funding in May, even managed to break into profitability in its first year.
Those deploying Revel’s iPad solution have come in the restaurant, retail and grocery sectors, all of who have been able to do everything from place orders and take payments to check inventory, edit menus and keep track of employee use.
The firm’s CEO and co-founder Lisa Falzone told TabTimes earlier in the year that the solution is ‘not just a cash register app’ but rather gives ‘all the functionality that a restaurant or retail owner requires’.
