Google is set to move beyond online sales of its devices with 6 new retail showrooms that will feature such products as Nexus 7 tablets, Chromebook computers, and Chromecast video-streaming devices.
The idea is to provide a showcase where consumers will be able to interact with the products, and then order them online.
Google Winter Wonderlabs are opening or have opened in six shopping centers across the country. In addition to the flagship store in Bryant Park Winter Village in New York, the other pop-up store locations are in Topanga Plaza, Los Angeles; Fox Valley, Chicago; Roseville Galleria, Sacramento; Annapolis, DC; and Garden State Plaza, New Jersey.
One cute gimmick, the stores feature a large snow globe where customers can take pictures and videos of themselves with the products to share online.
"Bring friends or family members (we'll provide the fake snow) and step into the giant Snow Globe to create amazing slow motion videos that are yours to keep and share," Google says as at Winter Wonderlabs site.
