Google exec sees smartphones, tablets generating far more ad revenue than PCs

Smartphones and tablets will greatly expand the number of companies who advertise online and bring more revenue to Internet companies than they have from customers on PCs, says Google Chief Business Officer Nikesh Arora.

"The desktop world took the world of advertisers from tens of thousands to a few million," Arora said at a Morgan Stanley tech conference in San Francisco earlier today, as reported by Reuters. "I think as we go forward, that a few million becomes tens of millions as mobility becomes more relevant."

He predicted that monetization on mobile will eventually "become a multiple" of the current rate of monetization on desktop PCs.
