Rovio has announced a new initiative that will see it publishing third-party mobile games aimed at educating kids aged 3 to 12.
The Angry Birds developer and publisher believes it can use its wide global popularity to reach more kids than any other company making educational games.
"When kids are bored, their learning plummets," the company told Pocket Gamer. "When they're engaged, anything's possible. So we're looking for new game ideas to entertain kids and motivate them to learn. Games that parents can also feel good about."
Rovio has previously published third-party games including Tiny Thief, Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage, and Juice Cubes, but this will be the first time the company has published educational games. The Finnish company will be looking for possible contenders from other developers at the Game Developers Conference in March.
