Technical hiccups mar Microsoft's 'Cold Alley' launch on Windows tablets

Microsoft has released a new hardcore gamer-aimed dogfighting game on Windows 8.1, but early reviews suggests it needs some work.

Cold Alley's Windows app store description calls it "the next generation of air combat gaming" and promises a dozen different aircraft, a story-driven campaign, and multiple additional modes, including Dogfight Missions, Survival, Free for All, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and Defend the Base.

But the initial reviews name numerous issues, including crashes, graphical lag, and finicky controls. Out of 14 total reviews, the game sits at an aggregate score of 2.7 out of 5 stars. So at $6.99 and with no demo to speak of, it seems Windows tablet gamers will be taking a risk if they pick up Cold Alley at this point.
