Non-iPad sales are expected to account for around 30% of the tablet market next year, but Jen-hsun believes that the market will come to be occupied by a variety of different OS providers.
Speaking to Digitimes, Jen-hsun said that ultrabooks may impact on tablet PCs, but dismissed fears of competition behind the two designs, saying instead that each device will have its own advantages in terms of application demands.
Jen-hsun does, however, expect demand for both form factors to trigger a rising interest in hybrid models, like the Eee Pad Transformer Prime.
Touching upon the GPU market, Nvidia’s Huang said that the production market as a whole is worth an annual figure of $4 billion, and cited cloud computing applications as a major driver for the GPU market. Nvidia is planning to offer Windows on ARM (WoA) chips when Windows 8 launches.
