LAS VEGAS – At CES Olloclip showed a prototype of its small 4-in-1 lens for the iPad that includes Fisheye, Wide-Angle and 2 Macro lenses that easily connect to the tablet.
Why a photo lens accessory for the iPad?
“It’s a hard question that we discussed quite a bit within the company,” said Chong Pak, Design Director at Olloclip. “It depends on how it’s going to be used.”
Much like holding up a phablet to your ear to make a phone call, shooting photos with your iPad can be and look awkward, if not nerdy.
“You don’t want to be that guy,” joked Pak.
But Pak also believes we’re at a tipping point where the lightweight iPad Air and mini are easy to hold and users can take advantage of the tablet’s screen to get some nice images.
The iPad version of the Olloclip lens is on track to ship in March. Pak said it will be similar to the 4-in-1 “go to lens” the company offers for the iPhone. Pricing hasn't not been announced. The iPhone version sells for $69.99.
