OLPC vows to bring new education tablet to retail stores later this year

The non-profit association unveiled the XO Tablet alongside its new XO Learning System at CES, with the latter being Android compatible software that is designed to help young students learn.

Speaking at the conference, OLPC confirmed that Saka International has become the first licensee of the 7-inch XO Tablet, which as well as coming pre-loaded with XO Learning sports a 1024 x 600 resolution display, 8GB of memory, 1GB of RAM, dual-facing cameras and connections for micro USB and microSD.

Saka also holds the exclusive rights to sell the WiFi-only tablet to U.S retailers in-store and online, with the tablet expected to come to Walmart retail stores and Walmart.com at some point in 2013.
