Powered by the new, and of course more powerful, A8 chip, the iPad Air 2 will include the Touch ID fingerprint reader Apple already offers in the latest iPhone, according to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
In the report obtained by Apple Insider, Kuo says the iPad mini with Retina display will also get an upgrade with an A8 and Touch ID sensor.
Wither the iPad Pro?
There have been reports that Apple is working on a larger screen iPad, dubbed by industry observers as the iPad Pro. Kuo says the product is under development, but doesn't expect it to be released this year.
"With the 12.9" iPad, we think Apple will come up with a new user interface that's more innovative and intuitive, so that input will be as efficient as a device with keyboard," Kuo said.
