Accessory Review: Xilence X1 Stand for iPad/iPad 2

by Doug Drinkwater

January 17 2012

A sturdy and stylish iPad stand, but is it worth the price?

The Xilence iPad Stand X1 has a feeling of quality; the rubber grips are firm and keep the iPad (1 or 2) secure with little play, while the adjustable wheel is simple to use for both  horizontal and vertical set-up. That said, sometimes the wheel works itself loose, while general set-up of the stand is more of a fiddle than it should be. iPad cases have to be removed.

So, where can the X1 be used? TabTimes thinks that the stand is sturdy enough for point-of-sale (POS) applications, while we found the stand’s angle flexibility to be useful when using the iPad as a secondary monitor (with the DisplayLink iPad app).

Overall, however, the stand is a mixed product. Despite a stylish and strong design, the stand is expensive considering some of the flaws listed above.
