Instead of using Apple’s App Store, that handles app distribution and gives developers or publishers a 30% revenue cut on the download of paid apps, the Chinese site 7659.com is distributing a wide selection of pirated apps for free.

A blog in Taiwan called M.I.C. Gadget reported the scam, confirmed by VentureBeat, which said it found several paid entertainment titles on the site available for free, including Final Fantasy V that normally sells for $16.

After receiving a developer provisioning profile from Apple, enterprises can use Apple’s enterprise app deployment software to set up their own internal app app store. But Venture Beat says pirates in China have figured out how to use the technology to find and install apps and that over 5 million iPhone users there are already using it.
