Rumor: Amazon to launch three new Kindle Fire tablets later this year

July 9, 2013

“Trusted sources” told tech blog BGR today that the first of these tablets will be a direct replacement for the 7-inch Kindle Fire, which currently sells for $159, and has claimed that the newer model will sport an improved IPS resolution display of 1280 x 800 (the current model is 1024 x 600).

Indeed, improving displays seems to be a priority at the ecommerce giant as the two other new models are also said to sport high-resolution displays.

The follow-up model to the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD is expected to have a 1920 x 1200 resolution display — which is better than 1280 x 800 on the original — while the second-generation 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD is apparently coming with a striking 2560 x 1600 screen.
