Sources from the “upstream supply chain” tell Taiwanese news website Digitimes that the iPad 5 will, as expected, have a Retina Display and a slimmer bezel to allow for a larger viewing area. Battery longevity is also said to have been improved.
What is less clear however is when Apple intends to announce the next iPad mini.
Following on from previous reports, sources say that Apple is still mulling whether to equip the next iPad mini with a Retina Display and, as a result, may delay the tablet’s introduction until the fourth quarter.
Little more is known on what to expect in the way of specifications, although it is claimed that Apple is pushing its supply partners to further shrink the iPad mini’s bezel, so that it is bears a bezel-less design similar to that of Samsung and HTC smartphones.
