The Korean firm confirmed at the show that the 8-inch device has a 1280 x 800 resolution display, a quad-core 1.6GHz Samsung Exynos CPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage.

The Note runs Android 4.1.2, has dual-facing cameras and offers HSPA+ support, a microSD slot and a 4,600 mAh battery. The tablet can also be used to make phone calls and scribble notes with the S-Pen stylus.

Specifications aside and the tablet will also come with some useful features for consuming media content.

Samsung says that the Galaxy Note 8.0 will launch with a version of Flipboard that can be controlled by the included stylus, and adds that it also has a reading mode to make the screen easier on your eyes. In addition, a new universal remote control application will enable the Note to control most TV sets.

The tablet is expected to become available in the second quarter, although price details are still to be determined at this stage.

Prior to the announcement at the show, various rumors had done the rounds on the 8-inch Note, until a senior Samsung executive confirmed that the tablet would debut at the Barcelona technology exhibition.
