Video conferencing apps like iMeet (shown above) make meeting online easy and productive.

The iPad and other tablets can be great video conferencing tools because they can go anywhere with ease. The following apps are good choices for connecting with others face-to-face in your business or other organizations.

  • 1 Cisco WebEx Meetings

    Cisco WebEx Meetings

The Cisco WebEx platform is essentially synonymous with video conferencing. The company has not neglected the tablet era by creating a first-rate app for the iPad and Android. The app supports the entire WebEx meeting platform, which includes WebEx Meeting Center, WebEx Meetings, WebEx Training Center, and WebEx Meetings Server. Video quality is very reliable and includes the ability to share content for easier collaboration.

  • 2 iMeet
    Slide 2

The iMeet app is built for mobile, as you can join a meeting, video call, or share screens directly from the app. You can also send out invites with a custom URL and record the meeting to share with others who might not be able to attend.

  • 3 Skype
    Slide 3

If Skype has nothing else, it is ubiquity. Whenever I have had to hold a video chat, especially if it is someone overseas, the choice has been Skype. While still more of a consumer product, it is working its way into companies as a reliable and cross-platform method for video calls and screen sharing (these features require a $9.99 monthly premium account).

  • 4 Fuze for iPad
    Slide 4

Fuze is a very business-focused video conferencing application; users get up to 25 participants and includes 1GB of cloud storage for shared content. Free VOIP calling is also included in the basic, free version. The Fuze Pro package, which is $8 per month, expands this to 125 participants.

  • 5 Google Hangouts
    Slide 5

Hangouts recently received a substantial update for iOS: adding in video calling functionality with up to ten people. That feature hasn't (yet) even made it to Google's own Android operating system. It is a useful addition for organizations using Google Apps allowing them to host calls within or with other groups.

  • 6 ClickMeeting Online Meetings

ClickMeeting strikes a good balance in being easy to use with a simple interface while packing some powerful business-friendly features. Up to 25 people can join a video conference with a maximum of 1,000 allowed to view. Adding contacts and inviting other participants can also be done with a quick button tap.

  • 7 Zoom Cloud Meetings
    Slide 7

The advantage of video conferencing is being able to collaborate face-to-face over shared files. Zoom does an excellent job with the latter, allowing you to annotate a whiteboard, share from the web, or insert Dropbox and Box files. The company also makes an iPhone app if you only are available on the smaller screen.
