The Xperia Tablet Z has a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 resolution display, a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8064 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

It also has an 8.1 megapixel Exor R camera, NFC and LTE support, a microSD card slot and Sony’s own “S-Force” virtual surround technology, all of which fits into a tablet chassis that weighs just 495g and is 6.9mm thick.

Sony hasn’t yet announced if and when the tablet, which is waterproof and dustproof, will come to the U.S. and Europe, while price details are still to be determined.

The launch sees Sony continue its focus on Android tablets, with the Japanese firm having previously launched two Xperia Tablet S models and the Tablet P.

That said, the company is also now working on Windows 8 tablets, having announced the 11.6-inch Vaio Duo 11 and 20-inch Vaio Tap 20 towards the end of last year.
