Designed for tablets and low-end PCs, Cherry Trail will succeed Bay Trail, which was announced last year and is being used largely in tablets, Nathan Brookwood, principal analyst at Insight 64, told the IDG News service.

Cherry Trail chip will be made using a 14-nanometer process and is expected to be even faster and more power-efficient than Bay Trail, which is made using the 22-nm process. Battery life is also expected to be better.
