Crowded out by Amazon and Google, Pandigital gets out of the tablet business

The Digital Reader reports that Pandigital, makers of Android tablets like the 8-inch SuperNova as well as other consumer electronics, officially closed its doors earlier this year and has since seen its assets being signed over to creditors to pay off outstanding debts.

The company has since been sending emails to past customers to inform them that they can no longer support warranties, while also notifying them to contact the liquidator if they have any issues with their Pandigital device.

Despite the booming tablet market, Pandigital hasn’t been the first vendor to leave the industry.

ACME jumps into crowded, low-cost Android market

The TB01 tablet is powered by a 1GHz Samsung S5PV210 (Cortex A8) CPU, and offers 512MB of DDR2 RAM and 4GB of flash memory. This memory can be expanded up to 32GB through the microSD card slot.

The model has a 7" capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 800 x 480 and ships with Android 2.3. The tablet weighs 391g and is said to be able to last up to 4.5 hours, when watching videos, up to six hours when web browsing and 12 hours when playing music.   The tablet has an integrated 0.3MP webcam and measures 12.07cm x 1.35cm x 19.51cm (W x H x D). Leader International enters entry-level tablet market with $179 Impression

The model has a 7" 800 x 480 resolution resistive touchscreen display, offers 4GB of on-board storage and 512MB of RAM.

The model is Wi-Fi connected, has a microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 16GB, and also features connections for a USB port, a mini-USB port and a 3.5mm headphone socket.

The tablet's 3.7V Lithium battery is said to be good for six hours of use and there is a 0.3MP webcam for web conferencing.

The Impression tablet will come to the US in early November through Kmart Retailer and HSN. Launching at the same time will be Leader International's new 10" tablet, the Impression 10, which will sell for $350.
