LinkedIn hands out almost 3,500 iPad minis to employees as ‘a special reward’

LinkedIn product manager Mike Grishaver confirmed the news on the company’s website and compared chief executive Jeff Weiner to Oprah Winfrey, if only for his new-found interest in bearing gifts.

“Jeff 'Winfrey' Weiner decided to give every [LinkedIn] employee an iPad mini today as a special reward for our recent results," said Grishaver, who works on the company's marketing solutions team.

YouSendIt launches file sharing app for Amazon’s Kindle Fire

Using the application, Kindle Fire owners will be able to add files from a memory card or local folder, open and edit YouSendIt files in third-party applications, and quickly act on files through a newly included action bar.

If users sign up for this new Kindle Fire app within 30 days of today, YouSendIt promises to give them unlimited digital signatures on their Kindle Fire tablet for the lifetime of their YouSendIt account.

Prior to that particular rumor, The Wall Street Journal reported that Google's widely-reported [...]

Egnyte attacks Box, launches program to steal their customers

The deal will see the California-based company offer existing Box customers (of two months or more) free cloud storage for the rest of the year, with the firm also promising to help with data migration.

Prior to the deal, the company spoke with a number customers who had already made the switch, and identified five scenarios where businesses might still use Box for file sharing solution. These scenarios essentially act as a thinly veiled attack on Box;

You don’t need to ask permission: Users can side-step IT, and Egnyte says that Box is a great solution if you ‘aren’t concerned with who sees folders or what types of access they have to a [...]
