The companies announced the deal on Thursday and the arrangement will see content from the People and InStyle magazines become available immediately to Flipboard users. The Time and Fortune magazines are expected to travel the same path at some point in December.
This is obviously good news for Flipboard in its pursuit of the best publishers but it is also a boon too for Time Inc. This week started with the bombshell announcement that Rupert Murdoch is shutting down The Daily, News Corp’s highly touted magazine app for the iPad that had already seen significant cutbacks this past summer in staffing and original content.

Version 1.1 allows users around the world to be able to download Currents though Google Play or the iTunes App Store, while the expanding coverage also enables these users to add their favorite local blogs to their Currents reading list, including The Guardian in the UK, LaStampa in Italy, Financial Times Deutschland in Germany, and ABC News in Australia.
