Citing sources close to Amazon, AllThingsD claims that Jeff Bezos’ firm is looking at launching the device in Q3, and is currently consulting developers in order to get them ‘up to speed’ on the new hardware.

As with previous rumors, this latest report indicates that the tablet will have a 1280 x 800 resolution display, making it considerably better than the 7-inch 1024 x 768 resolution display on the current Kindle Fire and just as good as the Nexus 7’s display.

The source also estimates that the tablet will come with a camera for the first time, a faster chip, improved graphics an updated version of Android. A price for the new model was not discussed, although it has been said that the new model will debut at $199, with the current Kindle Fire dropping to $149.

The Q3 time-frame will certainly be of interest to Apple, which is reportedly planning to announce its 7.85-inch iPad Mini in October.
