Windows 8 marketing campaign could top $1.5 billion

The software giant is set to spend an estimated $1.5 to $1.8 billion on the Windows 8 roll out, according to a blog by David Einstein in Forbes, who says that would make it the biggest launch in the history of the tech industry.

Tech analyst Rob Enderle adds that Microsoft’s marketing push will be “on a scale you don’t see outside presidential elections.”

Windows 8 for x86-based PCs and tablets, and its sister release, Windows RT for ARM-based tablets, are set to be released on October 26.
