Quanta Computer chairman Barry Lam and vice-chairman CC Leung spoke at length on the notebook market when attending an investor’s conference in Taiwan recently, according to Digitimes, with Lam stressing that 2014 global shipments will drop only slightly on a yearly basis.

But it was on the topic of larger tablet, an area of apparent interest to both Apple and Samsung, where Quanta put the boot in with Leung in particular questioning if larger models would be competitive enough to compete against notebooks.

He apparently suggested that bigger displays would most likely mean bigger prices and – as a further insult to the much-rumored models from Apple and Samsung – claimed that consumers would still opt for 14-inch and 15-inch notebooks for work and Internet browsing.
