Google Calendar is one of the most popular mobile calendar apps currently available, and now owners of Apple’s iPad tablets can download a version of that app specifically optimized for those products.

In a blog post, Google says the new Calendar app for the iPad will still have all of the features included in other versions. It will have smart scheduling options that allow the Calendar app, via machine learning, to suggest meeting times and available rooms based on your team’s preferences and availability.

The app also allows users to add goals to the Calendar, and the app will then automatically add scheduled times for those goals to be met. Finally, iPad owners will be able to search through their calendar from the tablet’s home screen with Spotlight Search.

Google says that it will continue to update Calendar for the iPad in the coming weeks and months. In fact, it revealed one of those upcoming features will be a “Today View” widget, so that users can easily see any upcoming calendar events in the tablet’s Notification Center and on the iPad’s lock screen.

With the release of Calendar for the iPad, it shows that Google knows that Apple still leads the tablet industry by a wide margin, and wants to help people who use it regularly with fully supported Google apps.
