iPhone owners can now finally link their smartphone with the latest wearable devices from Samsung. The company announced today that the Samsung Gear S app for the Gear S2 and Gear S3 smartwatches, and the Samsung Gear Fit app for the Gear Fit 2 fitness tracker, are both now available in iOS versions from the App Store.

Samsung says that the features in the apps will vary by each device. However, owners of the recently launched Gear S3 with an iPhone will be able to access features such as the smartwatch’s built-in GPS, altimeter, barometer and speedometer apps. It will also offer fitness tracking by monitoring the route and distance that users take to run, along with overall pace, heart rate and how many calories are burned.

The apps should work on the iPhone 5 or higher, and they will also require iOS 9 and above to be installed. This is a pretty major app release for Samsung’s most recent wearables, and you can bet that the huge number of iPhone owners who might want to get something other than an Apple Watch for their smartwatch needs will welcome this news.
