Not content with limited edition Huawei Mate 9 and Huawei Watch 2, Porsche Design is also having a crack at a convertible Windows tablets.

The Porsche Design Book One was announced at MWC 2017 in Barcelona yesterday. It’s a detachable hybrid running Windows 10 Pro that comes with a 13.3-inch, 3,200 x 1,800 IPS display, 7th gen Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD for storage.

It features two USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type-C port, and additions like facial recognition (for secure login with Windows Hello) thanks to its 5 MP infrared camera and a digital stylus input function optimized for Windows Ink.

The device features a premium build quality, as you’d expect from a Porsche Design product, making use of milled aluminum and a matte anodized finish, as well as some unique rotary hinges.

As far as pricing is concerned, the Book One ain’t cheap: it comes in one configuration which will set you back $2,495 (or €2,795 in Europe). That said, it’s actually far from the cost of similarly spec’d products from Microsoft and Apple.

The Porsche Design Book One launches this April in the US, Canada and 15 more countries in Europe and Asia. Give us your thoughts on it in the comments.
