Acer’s improved 8-inch Windows 8 tablet gets spotted at Intel event

Dutch tech website got the chance to go hands-on with the device and detailed how the model has, as rumoured, an improved “wide view angle” (probably IPS) 1280 x 800 resolution display, Windows 8.1 and the new 1.33GHz Atom Z3740 processor. The tablet will reportedly still come with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Acer only launched the Iconia W3 in June but the tablet was slammed for its poor screen, cheap build and weak cameras. Rumors on a successor first came to light in July. Source article

Trimble announces ‘next generation’ rugged tablet that runs Windows 7

Geared up for those working in construction, transportation, public safety and other types of field work, the Yuma 2 weighs less than three pounds and is said to feature new display technology to make for better readability in direct sunlight. The specs of the tablet illustrate that this is a tough and powerful device. There is a dual-core 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 64GB SSD and a dual battery with an average run time of eight hours. India’s former President pushes plans for a rugged healthcare tablet

The former president and renowned cardiologist have teamed up with Bangalore-based PSU and telecommunications equipment manufacturer, Indian Telephone Industries Limited (ITI), to begin work on the tablet, while Hyderabad-based chip firm, Aizyc Technologies, is also on-board to work on the physical design and firmware. The tablet is expected to run an Intel Atom processor, have an 8-9 touchscreen and feature connectivity options for a microphone and USB port.
